CAMERA PRESS PREVIEWS NEW SERVICE AT PICTURE BUYERS FAIR
Date of News : 11/05/2004

The prestigious photographic agency Camera Press is previewing its advanced picture and news service at the Picture Buyers Fair, 2004.

Underpinning the enhanced service is Picdar, the leading digital asset management solutions provider to the publishing industry, with the installation of its Agency Edition of the award winning digital asset management solution, Media Mogul.

After more than 55 years at the fore of editorial photography, Camera Press has boosted its online presence with a new look courtesy of Picdar. Camera Press is known for the host of famous photographers it represents, including: Rankin, Snowdon, Lichfield, Jason Bell, Beaton, and Karsh and boasts an archive of some 12 million pictures covering news, events and features. The Agency has also developed a successful specialist Lifestyle archive to compliment the daily picture service that it already delivers digitally alongside its top quality celebrity studio content and peerless royal archive.

Camera Press has been using the web as a way of selling its stories and pictures for many years. The move to Picdar was a conscious decision to consolidate its web presence with its in house database; Picdar will host a low-resolution web site, making it faster for users to view content and order the images they want, while significantly reducing administration for Camera Press. It is also envisaged that the Agency edition will offer significant advantages in terms of speed and security: allowing for a smoother workflow, a real time editing procedure and an improved search facility. Complete control of the High Resolution images will remain in-house, an important factor given the fame and prestige of many of the photographers they represent.

"Choosing Picdar was the clear choice. Picture buyers and editors are used to getting the highest quality services from us, so it makes sense for a leading picture agency like Camera Press to use trusted and well proven systems from Picdar", commented Daryl Bradford, Finance Director at Camera Press.

Andy Heather, CTO at Picdar said, "Picdar is fast becoming the de facto choice among picture agencies. We are delighted to have been chosen by such a prestigious agency as Camera Press and wish them every success with the preview of its new services at Picture Buyers Fair 2004."
