The challenge:
To store and manage digital images received from multiple sources such as picture agencies, wire feeds, and photographers
To provide an electronic central repository for 30 titles across 16 offices
To store, manage and allow searching of old images and articles
To manage electronic versions of the newspaper in PDF format

The solution:
An image, text and PDF management system which collects and stores the media files providing fast, easy searching that saves time, manpower and delivers greater efficiency
Once the newspaper is produced, all the images and articles are stored, indexed and linked together to allow rapid finding and reusing. Therefore, once created or purchased, they can be used many times and the cost of each use is reduced. This saves the business valuable time and money
Integration with Quark QPS means many of the production steps are cut, saving time and resources whilst making the process smoother and more efficient
The solution allows high-speed delivery of the PDF version of the newspaper to all Mac and PC users
Use of ‘free text’ rather than ‘key word’ searching provides concise, descriptive and flexible searches giving targeted results. This means less time wasted locating images with more time available to focus on value-added tasks
Each image and story has its history, usage, author / photographer and copyright information linked to the specific page and the newspaper. This provides an easy-to-use and fully indexed solution which assists in the finding, billing and profitable reuse of the newspapers’ assets
